Brandon Barbarians 46 Sturgeon Creek Rowdies 5
The Barbs extended their winning streak to four games with a lopsided 46-5 victory over the Sturgeon Rowdies on a very hot Saturday at Canada Games Rugby Park.
The 30C+ temperature and the absence of several key senior player had little impact on the Barbs' play. Andrew Ritchie and Shane Morgan had two trys; Kevin Teneycke and Jamie Erickson scored single trys. Sean Common rounded out the scoring with five converts, a penalty kick and, in the opening moments of the 2nd half, a lovely drop kick. The Barbs led 24-0 at the half.
Although the Rowdies were greatly outscored, to their credit they never gave up. The Rowdies took advantage of a miscue by the Barbs as the game was drawing to a close and made their first score of the day. With the Barbs preparing to kick off, the Rowdies were still talking it up, "We can make another one. There's still a minute to play!" Alas, Shane Morgan turned the lights out with his second try of the day in the game's dying seconds. This game was the only meeting of the Barbs and the Rowdies this season.

The Barbs take to the road for their next game. They'll play the Assassins next Saturday, July 29 at Maple Grove. Game time is 3:00pm.
