Barbarians 77 - U of M Wombats 3
The Brandon Barbarians defeated the U of M Wombats 77-3 in a beautiful Sunday afternoon game at CGRP. The win was the tenth in a row for the Barbs after having lost to the Wombats in the first game of 2006 season.
The game cannot be called, "The Barbs' Revenge" because, quite frankly, the game was not much of a game. The Wombats showed up with 12 players which meant the Barbs would have to use 12 bodies as well. As the game progressed, a Wombat went down for the count and the teams played 11 a side. To the Wombats' credit, they played until they were completely played out. Midway through the first half, the Wombats came up with their major offensive move which generated a penalty goal. The score was now at 21-3 for the Barbs and the rest of the game became a romp on the pitch for the home team. The score at the half was 45-3 for the Barbs.
Scoring two trys apiece for the Barbs were Owen Hagen, Jim Ritchie, brother Andrew Ritchie and Andrew Halliday. Sean Erickson made a try and five converts. Mason Broadfoot scored a try and a convert. Sean Wojnarski, Paul Grosskoph and Kevin Teneycke made single trys.

The Barbs next play the Wasps at CGRP in the final home game of the season at 3:00pm Saturday, September 16.
