2007 Bursary

The Brandon Barbarians Rugby Football and Athletic Club (BBRFC) offers two bursaries, each of $250.00, to be used for post-secondary educational purposes. The competition is open to graduating High School rugby players in South –Western Manitoba attending Souris School, Vincent Massey High School, Crocus Plains Regional Secondary School and Minnedosa Collegiate Institute wanting to pursue further academic achievements and additional opportunities to play rugby.

The bursaries are awarded to the male and female applicants who best meet the selection criteria. In the event that no applicants from one sex are received, both bursaries shall be awarded to the top two applicants in the other category.

The criteria are as follows:

1. the applicant is a graduating High School rugby player in good standing in the current season:

2. the applicant has an exemplary academic record;

3. the applicant is active in other extra-curricular activities;

4. the applicant is recommended by a teacher.

Applicants must submit the following information to the BBRFC:

1. a letter from the applicant explaining why he/she feels deserving of the bursary and detailing post secondary education plans and the opportunity for playing rugby;

2. a letter from the High School rugby coach recommending the player as deserving and certifying that the applicant is a player who has played to high personal standards during the current season;

3. a letter of recommendation from one of the applicant’s teachers;

4. a copy of the applicant’s academic record

The Executive Committee of the Brandon Barbarians Rugby Football and Athletic Club shall judge all applications. All applicants will be contacted to inform them of the results of the selection process. All decisions made by the Executive Committee are final. The successful applicants agree to have a photo taken of the presentation for use by the BBRFC on the web site or on other promotional material
