Rugby Manitoba has identified Ben Hume of Carroll and Paul Grosskopf of Carberry as its top Under-18 Players for 2006. Hume was named as Top Junior Player and Top Under-18 Back. Grosskopf was named Top Under-18 Forward.

Hume and Grosskopf gained recognition in their high school rugby programs and have represented Manitoba at the national level.

Both also have played internationally having been named to the appropriate Canadian National team.

Sandy Donald, President of the Brandon Barbarians Rugby Football Club, under whose auspices rugby is played in Western Manitoba, said, “The accomplishments of these two young men gives notice to the rugby community that rugby is both alive and well in Westman.”

Both Hume and Grosskopf will be heading to Australia to further their rugby playing experience in the New Year.
